About Soilspect

From a customer question to a technical solution

Soilspect was founded by Hille Wichers and Daniel Spils through a shared interest in technology and space. Together, they develop the hardware, software and data processing behind Spot ONE and translate questions from construction and infrastructure projects into practical monitoring solutions.

How can it be improved?

Hille and Daniel share the drive to turn technical ideas into products that are genuinely used in the field. While developing Soilspect, they used the resources, facilities and technical expertise of ESA BIC Noordwijk. Spot ONE brings mechanical engineering, electronics, software and satellite navigation together in one practical monitoring system.

Hille Wichers

Hille wants to understand technical systems in detail. If he does not know how something works, he investigates it. That curiosity and his enjoyment of solving difficult problems formed a natural basis for starting Soilspect.

At Soilspect, he works across the product: from setting up IT systems to designing and producing the monitoring equipment. That variety and the opportunity to keep improving are what make the work interesting to him.

Daniel Spils

Daniel enjoys building something from the ground up and then bringing it into practice. With his aerospace background, he translates technical ideas into software and instructions for computers and microcontrollers.

The freedom to set the direction and take responsibility for development, sales and maintenance was an important reason for him to start Soilspect. Solving new problems and improving the product give him the energy to keep building.
